Looking for something to do with your kids in the last days of the summer holidays? We can definitely recommend the Uithof and its huge indoor play area, the Sport en Spel Paleis.
This ‘sport and play paradise’ (at the end of tram line 4) charges €8 entry for kids from 8-12 years old. Kids 3 and under are free and can certainly come along but most activities are aimed at ages 4 and up.
It’s entirely inside, so it’s perfect for a rainy day. Once through the doors, the kids can run around for hours on the bouncy castles, trampolines, water boats and splash pools — to name a few of the many activities on offer. The paddle boats were one of our favourites. Don’t forget your swim suits and a towel!
You’ll have to buy tokens for a few events such as the archery, quad cars and zip lines, but we felt the prices were more than fair for the time you get on each event (a 5 minute ride on the quad cars, or three rides on the zip line costs €2).
During our visit, there were plenty of kids around but thanks to the huge size of the Uithof it never felt crowded or annoyingly noisy, a nice change of pace from other play areas. It was also nice to see a range of activities for all ages, from little kids to budding teenagers. Highly recommended!
Where to find it: The play area is in the Uithof, at the end of tram line 4. It’s about 30 minutes by bicycle from the centre of The Hague.
